Volunteer Opportunities: Get Your Hands Dirty

As part of our Slow Food In Schools Program, we’re pleased to work with Urban Nutrition Initiative (UNI), and we need your help!

what it is
This fall kicks off a new collaboration between Slow Food and the UNI, an organization that works to improve community nutrition and health in Philadelphia by developing and implementing a comprehensive set of activities in specified neighborhoods.

Seed-to-Table will give students the chance to learn about the history of seeds such as the Green Oak Leaf lettuce, care for the garden, harvest the plant and eventually enjoy the greens at the table.

how and when Slow Food will help
Slow Food will purchase and plant early maturing seeds in three Philadelphia middle schools this month.

where you come in!
We need several volunteers to help with planting at each of the schools. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at info@slowfoodphilly.com with the heading “volunteer.”
