Many Thanks
We want to thank everybody who attended our “Dig In” event at World Café Live a couple of weeks ago. This National Slow Food USA campaign had chapters around the country holding simultaneous events and we did our part. We especially want to thank the generosity of World Café Live, Healthy Bites, and the Trolley Stop Band for hosting, feeding, and entertaining us during this event. High View Farm donated a $100 gift certificate to help us raise money. You can learn more about our list of organizations that participated here.

Andrea Rossi hosted a spectacular dinner at Cichetteria 19 that featured the wines of the PA local Penns Woods Winery, the cheese of Shellbark Hollow Farms, and for dessert John & Kira’s Chocolates. Andrea graciously provided a forum for all three purveyors so they could share with us information on the products we enjoyed throughout dinner.
Salone del Gusto / Terra Madre 2010
Our local delegation was in awe at the wealth of culture and knowledge that was shared at both Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre. Carlo Petrini, our founder, has called out the US to take a more active role in leading the world in affecting changes in our food culture. Our local chapter goal is to have a conference this winter involving our local food and hunger organizations so that the message of Terra Madre is shared by our delegates and we can start to form an action coalition moving forward.
I also had the pleasure of running into many of our local members, including some of our Cape May chapter friends, wandering around Salone del Gusto tasting the unbelievable assortment of great foods and wines. We have a whole section on our website with some photos so we can share with you the experience.
Please support this great cause….
MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) volunteers continue to do great work around the city and every year to raise money they hold the PIE IN THE SKY fundraiser. Every sweet treat sold through the Pie in the Sky fundraiser will aid MANNA in providing delicious, healthy, medically appropriate meals to someone in the greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area who is coping with a life threatening illness. As MANNA’s largest fundraiser of the year, the goal of this event is to pre-sell 10,000 cakes and pies, raising $250,000 for our nutrition and meal programs.

Please note:
We had to postpone our event at Noble An American Eatery scheduled for November. We will be rescheduling sometime this winter.
The Restaurant School is donating a classroom for us to provide a monthly series of classes at their campus. Our first class will be Wednesday, December 15th and we are finalizing the details. We will send out an e-mail shortly with a curriculum of classes we’ll be offering this winter/spring.
