Our committee has been hard at work planning some extraordinary events. We have something for everybody so here is a schedule of our upcoming events.
Since both the Iberian Wine Tasting and the Gardening Seminar fall on the same night and in the same section of the city, we have decided to move the second seminar back 45 minutes giving you an opportunity to attend both. For those who attend both, we will be donating their admission fee from the seminar to “Sunday Suppers” recently featured on NBC 10 News. The restaurant is normally closed on Mondays but they are opening this evening for our Slow Food guests so we encourage you to make your reservation early as seating is limited.
Chef Brinn Sinnott is preparing a four course special Slow Food dinner with all locally sourced foods and will feature speaker, Casey Spacht from Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative. Casey recently wowed us at our April seminar so we are looking forward to hearing him speak again and to have his local Lancaster produce featured at this event.

This is a walk around tasting with 30 producers from Portugal and Spain and will feature over 80 plus wines, along with cheese and tapas. You must be over 21 to attend this event.

This seminar is a must for any gardener and will feature Sally McCabe, one of the PA Horticultural Society’s leading educators, who is bringing one of her classes to us so we can provide a joint event offering us gardening advise on both flowers and culinary plants.

Wyck House Food Festival & Symposium

The historic Wyck House and garden is a National Historic Landmark dating back to 1690 in the Germantown section of our city that has the oldest rose garden in the US, and offers lots of programs and education relating to horticulture and natural history. Slow Food will be represented at a table on Friday evening for the Food Festival and several outstanding speakers will be present on Saturday at the Wyck Food Symposium. We will post more details on our website, but the featured speakers will include William Woys Weaver author and food historian, Valerie Erwin owner/chef from Geechee Girl Rice Café, and Ben Watson from our Slow Food USA Biodiversity Committee.
7th Annual Good Food, Good Beer, and the Rest is History
Mark your calendars for our annual fund raiser being held at the Shambles this summer.

Tickets this year will be $25 per ticket general admission and will be going on sale soon.
This annual outdoor event is a joint fundraiser with proceeds being split between Slow Food and Farm to City. Our event this year will include a whole Pig Roast with plenty to eat including vegetarian selections and beer festival. The pigs are being locally sourced from Countrytime Farms, caterers this year include Feast Your Eyes and Healthy Bites and joined by our friends from local breweries including Philadelphia Brewing Company, Earth Bread & Brewery, Victory, and Stoudt’s.
