Food Day is a month long nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Join Slow Food Philadelphia and the Philadelphia chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier at the Reading Terminal Market during your lunch hour for our local awareness celebration of why food matters. We will feature groups and organizations in our region that promote youth farming, local farmers and farm support organizations including GMO Free and nutrition experts. The Les Dames chefs will be featuring food demos by incorporating local farmers’ seasonal products from the Market. Knowing where your food comes from and how it is being grown or raised is equally as important as the creative ways that it can be served. We start with the farmer and then bring you to the table.
Slow Food USA is conducting a membership drive and a portion of your membership fee is being returned to our local chapter. With a new leader at our USA helm many new member benefits are being created that include great information on food access issues around the world in both e-mail notices and hard copy quarterly publication along with a great resource website.
