Earth – Bread + Brewery
“Earth’s philosophy is all about the earth. Starting with our buildout in 2008, our focus was on utilizing eco-friendly paints and stains, as well as purchasing as much second-hand furniture, flooring, decor and small wares as possible.
On a day to day basis, we try to make the smallest carbon footprint possible, while supporting as many local providers as possible. Currently, we are very excited to be using 100% organic Daisy Flour from Lancaster, PA. They mill their wheat via a roller mill process developed in 1905. In addition to food products, we purchase locally roasted coffee and local eco-friendly cleaning products.
Since restaurants typically have so much waste, it is important to us that we prove this does not have to be the case. We compost all of our food waste along with our paper napkins and compostable plastic cups, lids and straws. This amounts to approximately 1500 pounds per month. The spent grain from our brewing process is also composted.
We’ve made all of these choices because they’re the right thing to do – for our customers, the planet and our conscience.”
