Geechee Girl Rice Cafe

“Geechee Girl is devoted to preserving the foodways of Geechees – descendants of the enslaved Africans who live along the coast and on the islands off South Carolina and Georgia. All menu items are made from scratch with a respect for tradition. Geechee Girl buys heritage, organic grits and cornmeal from Anson Mills in South Carolina.

Closer to home, Geechee Girl is a member of Fair Food, Philadelphia’s premier food justice organization. During the growing season, Geechee Girl buys produce from local farmers, including 3 Springs Fruit Farm and Overbrook Herb Farm.”
